Swedish certificate of no impediment to marriage in Vietnam

Before marrying before a Vietnamese authority, a Swedish citizen needs an impediment examination (hindersprövning) and a marriage certificate (äktenskapscertifikat). Where you apply depends on whether you are registered in Sweden or live in Vietnam.

Swedish citizens registered in Sweden get the certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency (form SKV 7881; valid four months; legalised in Stockholm). Those who have moved from Sweden and are registered in Vietnam apply in person, together with their partner, at the Embassy in Hanoi by appointment; the fee is SEK 200 and processing normally takes 1–5 working days.
