Apostille of Vietnamese documents for use in Sweden: where, fees, Embassy services

The Apostille Convention has applied between Vietnam and 125 countries, including Sweden, since 11 September 2026. Vietnamese public documents for use in Sweden are apostilled by a Vietnamese authority instead of going through consular legalisation.

Quick answer

Since 11 September 2026, apostilles for Vietnamese public documents are issued by the Consular Department in Hanoi (40 Tran Phu) or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs (6 Alexandre de Rhodes), VND 30,000 per copy, usually one working day for 1–4 documents. The Swedish Embassy's pages do not mention the apostille yet, so check with the receiving authority first.

Apostille in Vietnam

  • Submit form APO/TK with scans of the documents online, then hand in the documents (translated and notarised where required) at the Consular Department or the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs.
  • Open Monday–Friday and Saturday morning (except holidays), 8:30–11:00 and 14:00–16:00.
  • The HCMC notice lists Sweden (no. 105) among the 125 countries; Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic objected and still require legalisation.
  • An apostille certifies the signature, seal and capacity of the signatory, not the content of the document.
